Draw a short line that will be the first frame of the
animation.
Select Insert>Convert to Symbol.
Select Edit>Clone to make an exact copy of the line.
Clone the Symbol.
Select Modify>Transform>Free Transform.
Place your cursor on the Left center square and pull the square to your
right as far as you want your line to reach.
Select both the original line and the resized clone. Use the Select Behind
tool to do this.
Choose Modify>Symbols>Tween Instances.
Set the number of steps you want in between the Symbol and the Instance
and check Distribute to frames.
If needed, crop the image
or use the Export Area tool
to select from the beginning of the original line to the end of the final
line.
Export the file as a GIF Animation.
Try tweening a small square and a large square to see another effect
you can create using the tweening feature built into this program. This possibilities
are endless.
