Open a new document 400 pixels wide by 100 pixels high with a background
color of Hex #003366.
Click the Text tool in the toolbar, and type the word "Fireworks."
The font used in this example is Arial Black, size 53, Color Black, and Smooth
Anti-Alias. Name this Layer Text.
Open the Fill panel. From the drop-down list, choose Linear and then click
the Edit button.
Click the first color swatch. In the Hex box, type "Hex #99CCFF,"
and then press Enter to accept the color.
To add a color, place the cursor below the color line and, where you see
the second swatch (see below), click to add a new color swatch. Click the
swatch and type "Hex #FFFFFF," which is white.
Place the cursor in the third position and click to add a new color swatch.
Click the color swatch and type "Hex #CCFFFF."
Place the cursor in the fourth position and click to add a new color swatch.
Click the color swatch and type "Hex #6699CC."
Place the cursor in the fifth position and click to add a new color swatch.
Click the color swatch and type "Hex #336699."
Place the cursor in the sixth position and click to add a new color swatch.
Click the color swatch and type "Hex #000066."
The gradient is linear and it would look much better if it were horizontal
instead of vertical. Drag the gradient handles until the are straight up and
down as shown below:
Now that the gradient is done, you need to make it a style so that it can
be reused. Open the Styles panel, click the right-pointing arrow, and from
the pop-up menu, choose New Style. Enter a name and click OK. The gradient
is now available to add to any object.
Add a stroke by opening the Stroke panel. In the Stroke category, choose
Basic, Soft Rounded, Tip size 2, and type "#CCFFFF" for the color.
Next, add an inner glow, Click the Effects panel and, from the arrow pointing
down, select Shadow And Glow>Inner Glow with settings of Width 2, Softness
3, Opacity 75 percent, and Color #336699."
Add a drop shadow by clicking the down arrow in the Effect panel and choosing
Shadow And Glow>Drop Shadow with settings of Distance 7, Opacity 65 percent,
Softness 6, Color Black, and Angle 315.
Create a new layer and name it lizard. You will want it to appear under
the letters so you will need to drag the lizard layer below the text. Add
the lizard shown below by copying and pasting it into your folder. Open it
in fireworks and drag it to the layer named lizard. You will need to resize
is and drag it into position.
Add a new layer and name it flair. Add the flair shown below by copying
and pasting it into your folder. Open it in fireworks and drag it to the layer
named flair.
Create a new layer and name it text2. Click the Text tool from the toolbar
and type ".com." The font used in this example is Arial Black, Size
18, Color White, and Smooth Anti-Alias. The finished logo is shown above.
