Using Masks With Photos in Fireworks

The image below was created with a photograph and the polygon
shape. The image also has drop shadow and outer glow applied.
Draw the polygon shape. I used a star with eight sides.
Make sure you select black as your fill color. The effect the mask has on
the object being masked depends the black and white values of the mask;
where the mask is white, it will be transparent; where the mask is black,
the image will show through.
Open the photo you wish to use in a different window or import the picture
into your document. If you choose to open it in another document, drag the
polygon on top of the photo. The polygon or shape should be on top. Both should
be on the same layer. I used the puppy picture below:
With the rotation tool, rotate the photo to appear slightly tilted to either
side.
With the pointer tool select both objects.
Choose Modify>Mask Group>Mask to Path.
To apply the drop shadow and glow, open the Effects panel (Window>Effects)
and select both options.
