Open a new flash document and change the document size to 550 X 200 and choose a background color of light blue.
Now we need to create a motion guide for our plane to follow. Select the Pencil tool and draw out the path you want your object to follow as shown below. This will not show once we have published the movie:
Now we need to convert our layer to a "Guide" layer. Right click the layer that contains the path and select Guide:
Your pencil icon on the layer should turn to a hammer icon indicating the the layer is a guide layer:
Now we need to create a layer that will contain the animated object. Click the new layer icon on the Timeline to create another layer:
You then have to link this layer to the guide layer by dragging the new layer below the guide layer:
Notice how the guide layer changed so that it is linked to another layer. For this tutorial you can use the airplane graphic below or use a graphic of your choice:
If you are using the graphic above, open it in Fireworks, make sure there is no white background, then copy and paste it into Flash.
Position you plane on the left side of the screen. Make sure you align the guide circle on the guide line. Remember you are placing the plane on layer 2 and not the guide layer!!!!
Add a keyframe (F6) to frame 30. Add a keyframe to the guide layer in frame 30. Click back on layer 2. Move your airplane along the guide line until you reach the right side of your stage making sure that the circle is on the guide line.
Right click anywhere between frame 1 and 30 on layer 2 and choose Create Motion Tween.
