The Objects Panel
The Objects Panel is the tall narrow window that first appears on the left side of the Document Window. It contains button shortcuts for you to insert objects into the document. There are three different Object Palettes in Dreamweaver:
Common: Images, tables, horizontal lines, email links, and multimedia components:
a
standard graphics image (.GIF & .JPG are the most commonly used) 
a
set of rows & columns into which you may put text or images
a dividing line across the window 
a
separate screen element with which you can do a number of different things
(usually used for animation) 
a special file created in the Java programming language 
a special file created in the ActiveX language 
a helper file that allows you to view different programs 
one of the formats that requires a plug-in Director - another of the formats
that requires a plug-in 
another
of the formats that requires a plug-inForms: Form elements such as checkboxes and pulldown menus:

a form (which contains the following fields) 
allows you to enter text in a form 
like any button, clicking it makes something happen! 
allows you to make several choices in a set 
allows you pick one of a set 
drop down list of choices
lets you enter a file name 
lets you create a field for an image 
lets you have necessary data hidden from the casual user Invisibles: Comments, anchors, and scripts. Special: Java applets, plug-ins, and ActiveX components:
JavaScript or JScript 
an internal jump point 
information for you, the programmer 
a single carriage return, instead of the additional space that a paragraph
gives
