Setting the Page Properties
- With the page open, open the Page Properties dialog box by either right
clicking and choosing Page Properties or by choosing Modify>Page Properties
from the menu bar.

- Type a title in your title text box (ex: Setting the Page Properties).
This is the title that will appear in the browser's Bookmarks or Favorites
list, so it should be descriptive. This is also the title that will appear
on the Blue Title Bar in your web browser.
- Click on the square next to Background Color to add a solid color
to your background. If you wish to add a graphics background, go to
Yahoo.com and type in free backgrounds and find a background that matches
the theme of your web site. Save it to your site folder. To add the themed
background, click the Browse button next to Background Image, locate your
graphic background saved to your site folder, and select the background to
add it to your page.
- Now select the square next to Text Color and choose a color that
will compliment the background of your page. Note that you can choose different
colors for Link Color (text that is linked). Visited Links (previously
selected by a viewer), and Active Links (the color of the link while
it is being selected). This is the color palette that appears when you click
the arrow beside the background, text, links, visited, and active links drop
down box.

As you move the dropper around the colors, the hexadecimal values
of each color will appear in the gray bar across the top. More options are available
under the buttons on the top right: selecting the color wheel will give you
a spectrum from which you can choose millions of different colors. Selecting
the arrow allows you to choose from a collection of gray shades.
- Click OK, then save your page by selecting File>Save As. Save it with
a name that describes the page.
FYI: When actually creating a web page to place on the web, the home
page must be called index.
