Grading Rubric for Portfolio
Web Page Evaluation Criteria Rubric
As young entrepreneurs, students will create an international business whose products will be housed and sold entirely online. Each student will choose a different country to bring diversity to the class project. Students will first investigate products that would reflect the culture of their chosen country. Students will need to come up with a company name and a URL (web address). For example "Olives are Us" could be used as a company name and the URL could be olivesareus.com. Next, you will plan the look of your business, giving it the international theme of your chosen country. You will then create a one page Web layout with links to the items’ descriptions and pictures. Also, make sure you print a copy of the grading rubric for your portfolio and have your teacher mark your grades as you complete each rubric component. Last, teachers and students will evaluate the quality and effectiveness of their web site using a web page evaluation criteria rubric.
Not all the components of the web page are on the video. After viewing the video make sure you navigate through this web page to ensure that all of the components are included in the finished product. The grading and evaluation rubric will be a guide in this lesson.
While Microsoft Word is not good web design software, it is a very easy
program to use when making a web page. The text on the web
page should include information about your company and should reflect the cultural theme of your country.
Include all the following:
- Your company name as the title of the web page
- A background with a texture
- Graphics
- Hyperlinks to three additional pages that will showcase your products
Creating a simple web page in Microsoft Word
- At the new document dialog box, select web page.

- Key in your company name, address, telephone number, and web address.

Applying color to the table
The table doesn't look professional because of the white background that came with the pictures. It is easy to remove the white with a graphics program like Paint Shop Pro or Macromedia Fireworks by selecting the white pixels with the magic wand, then hitting the delete key. Assuming that no program is available, changing the background of the table can make it look more professional.
To change the background color:
- Click in the cell that contains the picture.
- Open the table toolbar (View > Toolbars > Table).

- Click the shade color drop down to select the color that matches the background color of your picture.

- The cell will change to the color selected.

- Continue to add color to the other cells as needed.
