Using Fireworks to Color and Enhance Graphics

Now you open one of your sheets in Fireworks. Several things you will need to know. You will be graded on adding bevels to your pictures. Your job is to color the graphic as close to how the object appears in real life. The steps for adding a bevel is listed below followed by a video you can view.

Saving Graphic as a Fireworks File and as a Gif

Before we add text or enlarge the canvas we need to save the file. First you will save it as a Fireworks file that will retain your individual layers. By saving it with the layers you can always go back and modify your graphic. Click File then Save As and in the file format drop down list select Fireworks PNG (*.png).

Fireworks Format

Next save it as a gif by selecting GIF (*.gif) from the drop down list.

Create Posters in Excel - Setting Up Your Page

Now that you have all of your graphics colored, the flag, girl, and boy, open up Excel. At a new document window choose blank document.

You will need to format the page setup so that it will print out four pages that you will then glue together to make a large poster. With the Page Layout tab selected click the arrow on the Page Setup area to open the Page Setup dialog box. In the scaling area Adjust the size from 100% to 200%.

Then click the Margins tab and change the top, bottom, left, and right margins to .5. Set the Headers and Footers to 0:

Add Three Callouts That Include Information on Your Country/Region

Do a web search to find out three fun facts about your region. For Mexico I found the following information that I will include on my poster in the form of callouts.

Return to your poster and with the Insert tab selected click shapes then choose one of the stars and banners. Drag the shape out on your poster then type in one of the fun facts. Continue this two more times to include all three fun facts on your poster.

Add Border Around Poster

First you will place a rectangle over your poster. To make the border you will make the rectangle with no fill and give it a stroke option. With the Insert tab selected click shape then select rectangle. Draw out a rectangle that covers your poster and remains in the four pages. Do not draw your rectangle out of the four page layout. Select no fill and give it a unique stroke that will resemble a border. Once you have added the border preview it in print mode.
