Setting up Headers and Page Number Footers
Headers and footers are pieces of text or graphics that appear at the top and bottom of a page. After you set up a header and footer, they will appear on all of your pages. You can add a page number to a header or footer, and Microsoft Word will automatically insert the right page number for you.

Add Header
To set up a header and footer for your document, click on the Insert tab at the top of Word. Now locate the Header & Footer panel:

Click on the Header item and you'll see a drop down list appear:

Select Alphabet. Your header should now appear at the top of the page.

Notice, too, that a new tab has appeared - the Design tab. The panels on the tab are: Header & Footer, Insert, Navigation, Options, Position, and Close.

Since the title of your document is displayed on page 1, you don't want the header on this page. You want the headers to start on page two.
To have your header start on page two you will need to use the Options panel located on the Design tab. Left click inside the check box next to Different First Page:
In the Navigation section of the Header and Footer Tools tab select next. This will place your cursor in the header on page 2.

Type in the title of your document "20 Tips on How to Survive and Keep Your Job."

Add Footer
Microsoft Word allows you to insert page numbers into your document. This is done (usually) in the Footer area of the page. The Footer is just the opposite of the Header. You can do the same things with the Footer as you can with the Header. You will now place page numbers in the footer of the document.
Make sure the Design tab is select at the top of Word. Locate the Navigation panel and then click the item that says "Go to Footer":

Notice you are on the footer on page two. Click the previous button to go to the footer on page 1. You don't want to start the page number until page 2 so click the Next button to go back to the footer on page 2.

To insert page numbers, locate the Header & Footer panel on your Design tab. Click the Page Number item to reveal a drop down list. From the Page Number menu, select "Bottom of page", as shown in the image below. Select the Ribbon page number option.

Once you're happy with your headers and footers, you can close the Design tab. To do that, click the Close button:

Since you want page 1 to start on page 2 you need to go to the Format Page Numbers dialog box. Right click on the number 2 in the ribbon and choose Format Page Numbers.

At the Format Page Number dialog box

The page number 1
should now appear at the bottom of page 2 and the rest of the pages appear in chronological order.
