Through the lens of

you will gather data about the Unnamed Storm of 1928. To assist you in note
taking skills, graphic organizers can be downloaded that will help you to
organize your data visually in order to help you to clarify your thinking
and to process, organize and prioritize this new information. You will use
sources listed on this page to compile your data, as well as additional information
provided by your classmates and instructor. You will then write your findings
in a Microsoft Word Document. The questions that a good journalist ask are
the five w's; who, what, when, where, and why. You are to address each of
these areas in order to provide the most reliable information for your paper.

Make sure you keep a list of the sources you used because you will have to cite these sources at the end of your newspaper.
First, open Microsoft Word 2007 by following the steps below:
Click the Start button, select Programs, and then click Microsoft Word from the menu list.
Click the Office button in the top left corner of the document windowand select new from the drop down menu.
Select new blank document:
Click the Office button again
and select Save As from the drop down menu and name your file The Unnamed Storm of 1928 Newspaper Article. See the information below on how you want to save your document.
Now you can begin gathering information to type in the document. Don't worry at this point about font or style. You are just to begin a rough draft.
Make sure you save your document each time you close it to save new information you have entered. This will take several class periods.

, you will create a newspaper article that you will be responsible for posting in the community. The purpose of the newspaper article is to bring about community awareness of the storm of 1928 and what devastation it brought to our area.







Insert an image from the following website to add a visual element to your newspaper in an appropriate location and adjust the wrapping style to Square. If the website is blocked search for pictures using a major search engine. (Remember, click on the inserted image, and click on text wrapping on the picture toolbar. ) Remember you will need to add the sources to your Cite Sources Section.
